In May 2021, the Ghana Heart Initiative (GHI) launched Ghana’s first 24/7 support and call center for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) management. It is established with the purpose to provide health professionals at all levels of care with easy and quick advice for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with CVDs. If a healthcare worker needs support for managing patients with CVDs, they can contact the CVD Support and Call Center to speak with a medical specialists on duty for guidance and advice. Cardiologists are scarce in Ghana, especially in the rural areas of Ghana and only present in health facilities of higher levels of care.Thus, the CVD Support and Call Center makes an important contribution to overcome this gap and to improve the quality of care of patients with CVDs nationwide.
